Press Releases Sheriff joins forces with “A Child is Missing” program September 8, 2010 The Boundary County Sheriff's Office recently teamed up with the “A Child is Missing” program, a program dedicated to assisting law enforcement agencies across the nation in the early search and safe recovery of missing children, the elderly or those with special needs. The program is free to law enforcement, and works by helping them contact everyone within a designated area of the person who is missing, alerting them to be on the lookout so their eyes and ears can join in the search effort. The database currently used by A Child is Missing contains all the telephone numbers of businesses and residences within each participating jurisdiction, but it doesn't include unlisted phone numbers or cell phone numbers unless you register. By signing up, you can be assured of being reached, even by email if that's your preference. The information provided by those who register is used solely by the program and is not shared with any other organization or agency. To sign up or to find out more, visit www.achildismissing.org, go to the sheriff's website, http://www.boundarycountyid.org/sheriff/index.htm, or call the Sheriff's Office at 267-3151. |
