Boundary County is committed to the welfare of its senior citizens, and the Community Restorium, a senior assisted living facility owned and managed by the county, is designed to help meet the needs of seniors not capable of completely independent living yet who do not need continuous skilled care.
The Restorium provides food, lodging and personal assistance in a beautiful mountain setting on the north side of Bonners Ferry, directly across the street from Boundary Community Hospital. The lawn and surrounding areas are landscaped with flowers, shrubs and trees, and an outdoor pavilion and patio provide the perfect place for relaxation or for special events. The staff at the Restorium strives to make the atmosphere as much like home as possible.
Residents and their guests are free to come and go as they are able. Guests are invited for meals and special occasions, and many in the community volunteer their time and expertise to ensure that residents enjoy themselves. A birthday party is held on the last Friday of each month for those residents who celebrated birthdays during that month. Many talented local musicians drop by to bring their gift of music, and sing-alongs. Every other Tuesday evening, the talented Mennonite Singers perform.
There is bingo, and Thursday is "hair day," when ladies from local churches stop in to wash and set the residents' hair. Annual celebrations include the Fourth of July picnic, held on the Thursday closest to Independence Day, and parties are held for nearly all holidays of the year. Every Easter, Restorium residents color hundreds of eggs for kids to find during the annual Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt.
During the school year, classes and groups come to entertain the residents, and pre-schoolers at the local dance school stop in regularly to visit and to show off what they've learned.
There are also card tables and games for residents to enjoy, and transportation is provided by the Restorium for visits to the doctor or dentist, to community functions and for group outings. Mail is delivered and picked up daily.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily in the Restorium dining room, which is open around the clock for snacks, coffee, tea or juice, both for residents and their guests. Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m., lunch at noon (except on Sunday, when it's served at 11:45 a.m.) and dinner is served at 5:30 p.m. Menus are varied and wholesome, and take into account the special needs of each resident.
There are private rooms and semi-private rooms available for monthly or daily rental. Every effort is made to ensure that the resident is made as comfortable as possible, and residents and family members are encouraged to bring in small personal items (favorite chairs, lamps, televisions, etc.) to help make the transition to life at the Restorium as easy and stress-free as possible. Such items brought to the Restorium are inventoried and marked to allow their return to the resident or family members upon request. Linens are supplied by the Restorium, however, residents are welcome to bring their own. Residents must provide their own medications and personal effects.
Residents are free to come and go as they please, though staff members must be notified when a resident is leaving and when they expect to return. Residents may also have their own vehicle, with parking conveniently provided.
Our current rates at the Community Restorium are $2500 per month for semi private bathroom or $2733.94 per month for private bath, double occupancy rate is $3749.00.
