August 5, 2010 Workshop

Members present: Jake Negley, Rod Barcklay, Paul Shelton, Marciavee Cossette, Bruce Behrman, Steve Shelman. Members absent: Matt Cossalman (called), Dan Studer. Staff present: Mike Weland

Barcklay called the workshop in session at 5:30 p.m. and discussion was held on the process. Staff explained how he'd developed the first draft, referring to zoning ordinances from several other counties to find those provisions that seemed to best fit the direction outlined by the comprehensive plan.

Members discussed three options; starting from scratch, going back a revisiting the entire draft or taking up where work left off. Members agreed to take up where work left off, less work on Section 5, zone district specifications. Staff said he would re-print the draft and provide everyone bound copies at the next regular meeting so everyone was on the same page.

Shelman said he felt we'd make better progress by skipping over those parts of the ordinance where we got bogged down, staff said that perhaps it would be better to address the administrative and procedural portions of the draft first, so everyone would get a clearer idea of the processes, then go back and determine what uses fit in which zone districts. Members agreed that the idea had merit.

The date of the next workshop was set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, in the jury room.

There being no further discussion, the workshop adjourned at 7 p.m.
