Planning and Zoning Commission
MINUTES
April 15,2004
Members present: Mary Ann Luedtke, Jane Kirby, Jim Paulus, Tom Hollingsworth, Toby Schnuerle, Doug Reoch, Barry Davis, John Kellogg. Members absent: Rod Barcklay. Staff present: Mike Weland.
1. Paulus called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., and called for reading of March minutes. Luedtke made motion to waive reading and to approve minutes as mailed, Schnuerle seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
2. There being no one representing agenda items in attendance, Paulus called for old or unscheduled business. There was none.
3. Adrian Bryant, Pace Kerby Realty, joined the meeting and Paulus opened discussion of a proposed duty free store in Eastport. Bryant stated his client was interested in a parcel owned by Kit and Clare Ague on the north end of the Moyie River Bridge south of Eastport, on the west side of the highway. Luedtke noted that there were at least two duty free stores that had gone out of business and that the stores were empty. Bryant stated that his client planned to convert an existing residential structure into a duty free store. After discussion, members advised Bryant that the proposal could be considered through either a special use permit application or as a request for rezone. Bryant submitted application for special use permit.
4. Staff explained that a planned zone map workshop would have to be delayed because the television in the extension office was incompatible with the computer planned for use in displaying maps.
5. There being no further business before the planning and zoning commission, Kirby made motion to adjourn. Reoch seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
