Tony introduced Jodie Marshall, Emergency services director for the American Red Cross. Jodie had a short presentation focusing on the Sheltering Program. Two main points were shelter surveys on the locations and also inventory. Boundary County is behind in the shelter agreements with the Red Cross, but Jodie is working with the Chapter to get these updated. Boundary County has 1 trailer and it is in the process of being updated, also about 6 new volunteers have been added. There will be a Sheltering Class April 25, 2009 at the Naples Fire Station from 9-4. For more information on this class and the Red Cross please contact Jodie at 208-573-1980 or e-mail marshallj@redcrossidaho.org.
Bob Graham: Bob gave a brief update and outline of the Grant Funds.
2006 LETPP fund: These funds must be used by April 30, 2009, the balance as of 3/31/09 was $59,913.42. All LETPP money has been approved and committed to new P-25 ready mobiles and handhelds for the Sheriff’s office and City Police.
2006 SHSP fund: These funds must also be used by April 30, 2009. The balance as of 3/31/09 was $36,286.75. As of today, we do not have approval to spend this money on specific equipment. It is restricted to interoperable communications equipment. We thought we had it all worked out, but, not so. Hopefully later today, we will complete the request to use this money to update all fire and ambulance base station radios in the Sheriff’s office to P-25. We should also have enough to purchase one P-25 repeater for the new fire frequency. If there are any 2006 funds left over, we will try to fill in with P-25 handhelds.
2007 Funds: LETTP: Beginning fund is $32,701.58
SHSP: Beginning fund is $30,324.67
None of the 2007 funds have been spent yet.
2008 funds are to be announced very soon.
Dave Kramer: Dave encouraged everyone on the LEPC to go to the Boundary County web-site and look over the Boundary County Emergency Operation Plan. Anyone with changes or comments please contact Dave at 208-255-6073or email dkramer@boundarycountyid.org by the 17th of April as they would like to have the County Commissioners sign off on this plan on April 27th2009.
Dave also says they are planning a Rail Car Class in early June. The final date and details will be announced later.
Tony Rohrwasser: Is working closely with DOL for the upcoming wildfire season.
Sue Welch: Is new to IBHS as the Training and Exercise Coordinator for the 10 Northern Counties.
Darrell Kirking: A reminder about the Panhandle Health Pandemic Flu exercise on May 14th, 2009.
Barry Coleman: From the LDS Church: In the last couple months we have increased the number of amateur radio operators, there are 22 in the 2 northern counties and approximately 80 statewide. Also, Boundary County will be able to now do the examinations for radio operators.
Barry also needs everyone’s information on the resource typing, if you have not already done so.
