January 7, 2009

The Forest Service Video: Protecting Idaho Communities the Home Owners Addition, that was planned for today had to be cancelled due to computer issues. Hopefully, this will be re-scheduled for a later date.
Cynthia Taggart from Panhandle Health was unable to attend today’s meeting but sent announcement that in May there will be a 5 county Pandemic Flu Exercise involving all hospitals and other agencies. She will attend the February meeting with more information regarding this subject.
Dave Kramer: Resource Typing, the state has asked us to identify what resources we have for certain equipment. There are 120 items for fire, medical, search & rescue and law enforcement. Barry Coleman has been compiling the information and needs the information from the Fire Departments. A data base will be created so the information can be shared and updated as needed. Some of the criteria needed to complete the typing are: Type, Quantity, Contact Name, location of Equipment, as well as an accurate description of equipment.

Barry would also like to create a list of private contactors to be called on if needed. They will need to be licensed and bonded and the list needs updated on a regular basis.
Dave and Jay Baker have been working on the 2008 Homeland security grant program. There are some Citizen Corp grant funds available as well.
Jay Baker The American Red Cross will be training on sheltering operations on Feb. 26th & 27th in CDA. Also, Boundary county is fairing pretty well with snow loads and other snow issues, compared to Kootenai county and others.
A fundraiser for Tyler Cordle will be held Sat. Jan.17th 4-10 pm at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, Tyler has cancer and his dad is a Sagle Volunteer Firefighter.
Again, the Video Presentation will be re-scheduled at a later date.
