Tony Rohrwasser called the meeting to order at 0759 hrs. The topic for today’s meeting was evacuation procedures in case of a major disaster, wildfires, etc.
Notification of an evacuation was discussed, Reverse 911, volunteers, sheriff department. Dave Kramer cautioned we can not force a person to evacuate unless ordered by the governor or there are children involved, in which case they would be endangering a child’s well being. Alanna Garrett from Creston, BC shared information that may be invaluable to us in the future.
Don Solum from Customs and Border Patrol, They will be having a Table Top Exercise, Natural Disaster (Wildfire). September 17, 2008 at Eastport, late morning- early afternoon time. Any questions please contact Don at 267-3966.
Tony Rohrwasser: Oct 3, 2008, CPR at South Boundary Fire Department. Contact Tony for details.
August 22, 2008 the fire Marshall will be in the area and will have a basic class at 6:30.
Barry Coleman: The Table top exercise the LDS church had on Communications was a great success.
Rich Stephens: The Commissioners are moving toward implementing a surcharge on each phone line to help fund the E-911.
